Yes, Eric, we've all heard your point. We all hope you've heard some of our points.
And we've heard several people say in this thread, that some of "the other tools you could be using," in some other ways, also don't give them the power, flexibility and price/performance benefit that R:Base does. People on this list are always willing to share what they have learned over the years about that power and flexibility with newcomers. But usually it works better if the exchange starts off with more of a tone of "Can you help me solve this problem?" than "What a ridiculous product this is."
