I got into R:Base in the mid 1980's when Microrim sent out $145 offers to all the accountants in the world (or at least North America). I was fighting to get intelligible reports out of dBase III + at the time, and figured that $145 was cheap to see if it worked better. It did.
Since then, I seem to have spent a few $$$ with Microrim and successors upgrading to the latest and greatest - good for them, good for me.
