The reason I settled on the solution I did was that it was the only
way I could think of at the time that allowed real time updating of
the data displayed was to use variables.

I did it in another detail table data entry situation using fields
and the SAVEROW command in an eep as I moved from one field in the
detail section to another but inconsistently get the "Conflicting
changes have been made by another user error messages.
