If you have trouble with direct display, you can use the RBLOB DLL which has
been shipped with R:Base since (I think) version 6.5+.  This will let you
display in various formats and gives you a little more control over scaling
or stretching the image to fit the space you alot.   Unfortunately, it only
works with disk files, not in-database images, so you have to write a small
piece of code to extract images to a temp file before displaying them.
