strange behavior - win 6.5++ 1.851

After connecting, I do a LIST, then I do a LIST Tablename, then anything else I try like show version or list another table doesn't happen. It merely goes back to an R> and on the same line. I even tried  out screen (even though I never did out anythingelse) and still nothing appears on the screen.   This just started happening after I copied the Foxpro system onto my computer.  But I doubt that it has anything to do with my problem.  I rebooted and didn't load Fox and it still behaves that way.  The only thing that seems to work is EXIT, probably because it doesn't have to display anything.   Anyone have any clues?   Bernie Lis Megabytes, Inc.
