Actually, if you go to a DOS prompt and issue the  NET USE statement, it
works just fine.

Examples:
Net Use lpt1 \\<compname>\<networkdevice>


NET USE LPT1 \\ksopprt01\ksopprt29p

NET USE LPT1 \\WORKSTATION1\HPDeskJet970
