I have experienced the same problem intermittently when running Rbase 4.5++
on Windows 2000 at a client's location running on Novell and printers
attached to the local computers and defined as network printers. They are
running an application that creates 3 reports in the same page and sometimes
one of the computers will start printing them in separate pages. I have done
extensive debugging, including setting the printer to print the hex code of
the input stream and playing with the print manager settings, without any
luck. Out of frustration, I rebooted the computer and it started printing
correctly again. To this day, when they run into this problem, they reboot
the computer and it starts printing correctly again. My best guess is that
some application that they run changes an obscure setting in the
computer/print manager.
I will be curious to see if someone has a better explanation. Again, this
problem happens occasionally and is not reproducible.
As far as the Windows version is concerned, I had to rewrite the application
to condense the 3 reports into one, one-page report (using lots of long
concatenated and formatted variables) as I could not overcome the page feed
issue.

Subject: Printing with Rbase for DOS

I am experiencing the same "form feed" printing problem
using Rbase for DOS on PCs with Windows 2000 as Rbase
for Windows gives. All software is on the network
using networked printers on Novell 5.1. It doesn't
appear to matter what version of Rbase for DOS I am
running. If you have a multiple report print that you
want to print on the same page, Windows 2000 throws a
form feed between the reports and no longer prints all
reports on the same page. Has Windows 2000 taken
over? or are there ways to get the DOS reports to
print on one page by adjusting something in Windows
2000 or Novell?

Thanks

Sandy
