Mike, With scanners, you get what you pay for. I use the HP scanners w/ a document feeder that cost in the $300 range. I think I did my demo with a $99 scanner w/o a document feeder. Usually the more expensive the scanner is, the faster it is, so depending on your voumne depends on how much you should spend. For my applications, we will scan between 1 and 5 pages in for a client. It does me no good to have a scanner that will scan 100 pages a minute, because I have to pull up the client I need to attach the pages to.
FYI, at this point I have over 80,500 documents stored in 23 databases. I am storing scanned images in jpg files, pdf files, and word documents in the database. I have instant access to all 80,500 documents.
