You know, Claudine, I think you have a point.  I don't know where it happened along the way, but I think that somewhere in the transition from Mirocrim to Abacus to RBTI, the original customer/user data(-base) was not transferred.  I could be wrong, but, had I not investigated upgrades/enhancements on my own part, I wouldn't have known that RBase was still alive.  That it is still alive is, w/o quesion, thanks to RBTI, RBase customers/users, et al.  However, it does seem that the flow of information might be too limited, which would be a problem f/both parties in the relationship, RBTI and the customer.

I'd add though, and definitely on the positive side, that this listserv is, well, if not perfect, wonderful.  However, traditional communications channels are still alive and still valuable - I, like you, sort of stumbled upon it.

Subject: O Tears of Frustration!

I just read the message from Razzak concerning R:Merge.  Picture me in tears...

I have been using RBase since 1986 and used XRW (Extended Report Writer) back then to create my order form which is more like a contract (with variable text paragraphs as well as database data).  Later, when XRW was discontinued, I had to switch to using a merge document with WordStar (yes, that workhorse!).  More recently and since I switched to RBase for Windows, I have been using Word.  It's klunky and slow but it works.

I have been clamoring for an RBase solution to this problem for YEARS!  Why wasn't this announced to users?  I can't afford to go to conferences all over the world to get this kind of information and I mostly go straight to updates on the rbasetechnologies.com site.  In fact, only a few days ago did I stumble upon this listserv!

Is there no mechanism in place to contact current users (and among them loyal customers like me!) to let them know of improvements, etc?  In the days of Microrim, I received periodic phone calls letting me know what else was for sale...

Just a suggestion...  Gotta go order R:Merge...

Claudine :)
