Thanks Javier and Razzak,
We were able to get back up and running.
I did check all .cfg files and multi was set on, on all of our users files.
When we brought the network back up, I had lost connection to our server and had to map my network drive again.  Do you think because I lost connection to our server that somehow the system thought my multi was set to no?
I was not yet connected to our server, and my co-worker opened his database and it opened fine, then he closed it, and then tried to open it again.  That's when we got the error "opened with multi set off".
I didn't' do anything to fix the problem, somehow it fixed itself.  All users can now access our database.  Thank you very much for the advise!  I have so much to learn!  Tricia

There a re several situations that I can think that could cause this problem:

- User still connected in single user (too obvious)

- Data base files attributes set to “read only”. Most software that writes to CDs will set this flag to read only; when you back up your files to CD (copy the *.rb_ files) and then copy them back to a hard disk the file attribute will be set to read only (been there, done that) – Possible

- Users needs to have network read/write privileges for the files and directory. Since your network was worked on, this is a likely cause

Best of luck,

Subject: Open with Multi set off

Hi everyone,

We upgraded some switches on our network and our server lost network access our server was not turned off or rebooted.  Now when we open our main database we get the message "The database is currently unavailable it is probably set with multi off".  I checked all of our config files and Multi is set on, on all files.

Is there a command I can run to reset my database service?

I'm running r:base 2000 6.5++  windows.

All help is very much appreciated.  Thanks.  Tricia Porter
