David is correct. Our plant current does implement Wireless Real time bar code scanning from boxes that come into our facility already bar coded. Unfortunately 40% of the product we receive has no bar code on the labels. Our next step is to implement a reader that could read pieces of the pre-printed label (OCR) and place that data into the tables just as our bar code scanners do (OBDC). One of our options would be to print up our own bar coded labels, but we still would like to take out the human component as much as possible to reduce errors. So even in producing our own labels we would want to scan the current labels for the pieces we need, i.e.. weight, boxid, and product #. Also all of these labels come using different fonts, so we would need something that could adapt to this. Thanks for the suggestions so far, I am following up on every thread !

Our presentation was about scanning bar codes. Frank now wants to read the actual name right off the label, not a bar code!!
