A question regarding a shell on a web application...

I'm attempting to call the "wget" command but get a permission denied error.
I'm using a shared webhost so I actually copied the wget binary and changed its
permission to 755 but still with no luck.

I tried 'whoami' into the shell and get www-data. The wget command works, of
course, if I run it in ssh shell even when I am not root (as I said.. shared
webhost).

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Alex

Posts: 14 Clarifying note: I can run the wget command and it
does send the request and receive it. The problem appears to be with writing
the file. I get a "cannot write index.html (Permission denied)" error. It seems
that the shell or the the RB application doesn't have permission to write? I've
tried putting the wget command in a shell script that has 777 permissions with
also no luck....
