Posts: 313 Realistically, with a typical (decent) VPS hosting
setup, can an RSWEB database app handle a few thousand (lets say 2500-5000)
simultaneous users? Furthermore, would it be ok to use a sqlite database file
for each user, or should a database server be used instead?

Location: Southern California Too many factors are involved to
answer this conclusively. What does the app do? What does the typical user do?
How much RAM does each session require? What are the SQL queries like? How much
disk I/O? How many resources are allocated to the VPS? CGI or stand alone?

Gut reaction: I would recommend a dedicated server to a client with this many
simultaneous users. In fact, I would probably recommend at least two, one for
WE and one for SQL. I would definitely go with Postgres or MySQL. And I would
design the WE app with scaling (i.e. multiple WE servers) in mind.
