However, the slowness of RS is unbearable; I can hardly drag my form around, and moving components can be tricky (skipping and freezing, etc). Specs: 2GB RAM 2.66 Intel Core 2 Duo (Dual Core) 256MB ATI Readeon Mobility 2600 HD Pro. OS: Ubuntu 12.10 Is there a memory leak? I would try & make sure you have more than 2Gb of RAM though as the OS, Unity and whatever else is running + RS all have to fit in that 2Gb. I'd expect you're getting a fair amount of swapping going on. _________________ My web site Great White Software RBLibrary.com REALbasic learning Top HMARROQUINC Post subject: Re: Real Studio: Why So Slow?Posted: Sat Jan 12, 2013 4:51 pm Joined: Sun Jan 25, 2009 5:11 pm Posts: 313 Location: Guatemala, Central America I downloaded and tested the RS2012R2 trial to an HP mini with 2GB RAM, atom 455 processor, with a HD that would spin faster if I was spinning it myself, running XP Pro. Ran OK. Although working with the IDE on such a small screen gets old real quick. _________________ Windows 8 Pro 64 bit / 8 GB RAM Windows 7 Premium / 8 GB RAM Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1 / 4 GB RAM Windows XP Pro SP3 / 2 GB RAM OSX 4 GB RAM UBUNTU 2 GB RAM Top Akiland Post subject: Re: Real Studio: Why So Slow?Posted: Sat Jan 12, 2013 5:23 pm Joined: Tue Jan 04, 2011 3:02 am Posts: 1101 Location: Jönköping, Sweden If your setup seems slow there are two quite cheap(http://youtu.be/T-FCI7aQ9Ik) ways of boosting it a bit. Make sure you don't have a problem with antivirus or security software scanning the IDE while you're using it, as that could be the source of the problem. If your app is slow, the problem is more likely in the way it's coded. _________________ Regards, Carl Capaho Web http://www.capaho.com Top Display posts from previous: All posts1 day7 days2 weeks1 month3 months6 months1 year Sort by AuthorPost timeSubject AscendingDescending Page 1 of 1 [ 5 posts ]
