As more and more of my clients are dealing with viruses and spyware I thought the following information would be useful.
While researching industry sales data for my Lapinator, Inc business plan I picked up a rather nasty browser hijacker that Ad-Aware could not get rid of. After some research, I found a program called Hijack This (http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10227352.html) that identifies all potential hijacking programs on your computer even if they are as yet unidentified by programs like Ad-Aware and Spybot.
You have to be careful while using it because it does not discern between good and bad re-directing programs. For example, you could erase a file that autoupdates a program or takes you to on-line help.
That said, it was pretty easy to identify the hijacking file as it was conspicuosly devoid of any description.
