Larry: Expanding on your tip, it works the same way that DOS does (which actually was copied from Unix.) For those of us who started with Unix and DOS this is pretty elementary but for the "younger" users it works as follows:
. is the current directory .. is the parent directory \ is the root directory for the drive For example, if you are at the: C:\rbti\rbg7\samples\database\rrbyw8 directory And you want to start at the: C:\rbti\rbg7\clips\bitmaps directory You can either: LAUNCH \rbti\rbg7\clips\bitmaps or else: LAUNCH ..\..\..\clips\bitmap As you can see, this is pretty helpful when your application has sub directories and you want to start the EXPLORER on a parallel directory without entering the entire path. For example to launch: c:\my_app\dir2 From: c:\my_app\dir1 Simply use: LAUNCH ..\dir2 This nomenclature also works with the CHDIR command. For example: For example to change to: c:\my_app\dir2 From: c:\my_app\dir1 Simply use: CHDIR ..\dir2 Or... CD ..\dir2 Javier, Javier Valencia, PE President Valencia Technology Group, L.L.C. 14315 S. Actually, it's just Window's way of trying to "launch" a directory. You can do the same thing from a command prompt by typing START . to get the Windows Explorer (in fact, that's what my friend showed me -- he's not a database programmer). -- Larry
