I do not know why this has me so confused but it does. So what would I put
in the pop up type , menu values and where clause to get the values to come
up distinct?

Well I'll be a....  I've always created a view and based my popup on the
view.  It didn't occur to me until just now to do a group by right in
the popup where clause. I don't know why, I guess I just got used to
doing that.

Check you SELECT syntax, and add the GROUP BY clause to your choose
popup

WHERE <if any> GROUP BY <column> ORDER BY <if different than the group
by>
