Check your indexes. I had two reports that were taking an inordinately long time to run, and then we noticed that it was causing a LOT of network traffic. Improving the indexes cut that down immensely.

What about the hardware? Network cards and the Hub or the Switch? I
upgraded to 1 gigabit on all computers and everything works much faster.

I am in the process of setting up a small peer to peer network. The
size of the database is approx 620 meg. The database has one report that will
take 5 min to run on a standalone operation. However, when I run the same
report across the network, it will take 35 minutes. This is running the report

from a workstation. If I run the same report on the host PC, the time
will drop to 5 minutes again.

I have the Scratch setting ON and the QualCol is set to 10. If I copy
the database across the network, it takes about 3 minutes. I have RBASE installed on both machines and the directory on which it resides is
shared. The workstation has an icon on the desktop that accesses the database on
the shared folder.

What should I be looking for to help improve the speed of the report
runnig from the workstationt. BTW I have very little exprerience on
networking. The program upto this time has been standalone, howerver, our growth is dictating that the program become accessible to all(currently 5 people).
