Alastair I was for a while very happy thinking my issue could be solved by your Eureka solution! My corresponding value was only 144 But even changing it to your 100 did not help me. Still pressing F3 rbases Loses focus only pressing Esc get the focus, back on top of that in my case the same thing happens when I press variables definition in reports or forms. This has puzzled me now for �some time. I cant replicate it on any other Pc this is only my new Laptop. If the RB DD isn't listed, well, then I'll check some old W98 ref material and see what else might help. Don't ask how it's possible but I could minimise and restore the program but not maximise it - something like that.   If the Data dictionary was open at that same time it is possible that it is being displayed but not where I can see it.
