As a work around, I've installed the print three times on the target machine, with different names. I've hard-coded the tray selection into the installation -- so one printer always pulls from tray 3, the other always from tray 2 (the default installation is "Printer Select". Then, I just use the PRINTER command to direct the output to the appropriate one of the three printers.
