Ben,
I can think of one thing. I ran into something similar when I
accidentally set up a user with a prior version that did not support a
particular feature I had used in a new form. I can't remember what the
feature was now, it was a year ago. When that user, who had design
priveleges, modified the form, it cleared the features that it didn't
support. In my case, it was a "working copy" of the database, used for
training, testing etc., so it was no big deal. So check to see if
everyone with design priveleges is on the same release (or that they're
all accessing a server install with the -a option.)

FYI - Group bar item component ids were introduced in update 79. So if a
user with a release prior to 79 opened the form in design mode....

Subject: [RBG7-L] - What can make Component IDs disappear?

I have a rather elaborate security system implemented using component
IDs.
On a few occasions when we've been ready to roll the system out to our
users, the component IDs for all of the items in the Group Bar were
missing.

We suspect that a change in the version of 7.1 patches may have done it.
That doesn't seem likely though. I plan to unload all of our forms as
soon as we hit a firm code level to be able to restore them as needed
should this happen again. The problem is that if all of the component
IDs disappear again, we'll have no security on anything until the forms
are reloaded.

Anyone run into something similar?

Ben
