This has worked for me in the  past.

Leave the column in the date format.

I assume the appended table’s associated column is also in date format

Save the spreadsheet in  CSV format with a csv extension to the name.

Use the following command

Gateway import csv filename append tablename date1

When typing in filename make sure you include the csv extension.

I hope this works for you.

Subject: [RBG7-L] - Importing Excel data

Using version 7.1

Trying to import an Excel spreadsheet that has one date
column in it.  When in Excel I look at Format Cells of the
column, it shows DATE  mm/dd/yy.

My database settings are Format mm/dd/yy,  Sequence mmddyy.

When my table has a date column, this comes in as blank.
When I make the column text, it comes in with what I assume is
a julian number.  10/14/03 came in as 37908, 10/15/03 as 37909, etc.

What am I missing?  How can I get the dates to load in, or if I can't
how do I turn the Julian date into a regular date?

Karen
