I've seen this from time to time. Have a look at your scratch settings and access rights to the folder. I've felt that the problem surrounds difficulties with the .$$$ file rbg65 writes to display the image.
On Citrix we attempt to have all scratch files written to the user's local settings / temp folder on the Citrix server itself.
I get this error when trying to run my 6.5++ for windows on a Citrix server. "In this version of R:Base for Windows, we are currently unable to convert this BMP image into a Windows BMP Image" this happens 4 times and then I get this CAPTION .bmp Cant open File after that it seems to work just fine.
