My experience with folks using peer to peer (non dedicated file server) has always been a bit bumpy. In the "good" case the data base would be corrupted 1-2 times a year. They backed up frequently. At another plant, when a user was using the file server as a work station, performance on the other PC's was extremely slow. They eventually wen to a dedicated PC. At a third customer, where the file server (and work station) is never used to access my application, it has been running just fine.
I believe (but you can check) that RBTI has always recommended a dedicated file server for RBase.

Good day to all:
I was recently talking with a client who is running rb45++, on a single
stand-alone workstation. They have a need to go to two workstations, so
I suggested a small server with two workstations, using RB7.5 and 1 LAN
pack. Their IT guru suggested going peer to peer with two workstations
(no server - to cut costs) , and buying two standalone versions of 7.5..
My question for you is, is this possible ? (I have never done peer to
peer), and does it work well ?
If it does work, do I have to jump through hoops to make it work ?
Or are they being foolish, trying to save a few dollars ?
Thanks in advance
