Having been through the shifter mill -- including stints with both Shimano and Campy brifters -- I'm back to DT. Clean, simple, and easy to use. I do, however, prefer indexed shifting. I bring this up just to make the point that I'm not stuck on any kind of retro aesthetic.
Of the other options, I liked Campy ergo shifters second best, and Shimano brifters the least.
