I did it mostly as an experiment, to give 650B a try, and to reduce the chance of pedal strike, since it's a fixed gear. I was inspired to try it when I saw early photos of a Bombadil prototype, and was curious to set up a similar 650B ATB with slack angles. Alas, I concluded the experiment to my satisfaction and re-worked this bike back to 559 with knobbies and drop bars: http://www.flickr.com/photos/twowheelflight/2928495702/ I think I like it better this way, but I'm not sure why. Maybe just the handlebars. Or maybe because the smaller wheels give me that sweet low-trail handling. (kidding)
