IME, with 7, 8, 9 and 10 speed HG cassettes, and dt, bar con and Kelly
Take-off shifting, HG and friction were cosmically meant to go together. You
just have to be aware (if in fact you learned to friction shift on the old
straight tooth cogs) that HG shifting will mean a little pause while the
ramp goes around and lines up for the chain movement.

Tho' to be honest, the completely, no-holds-barred, absolutely best rear
shifting I ever had was 7 speed Uniglide and Sante dt indexed shifters on a
'89 Falcon.
