I'll let Grant speak to his decision to offer a free/free hub as a  
stock item.  IMHO, it should have have been a fixed/free ...  
especially after the first production run, when it became obvious that  
a lot of us were running our QBs fixed.

That being said, I don't recall ever having a pedal strike on my  
(always fixed) QB.  I don't think that's the reason for offering a  
free/free hub.

P.S.  I had  a new set of wheels built for my QB (fixed/fixed) soon  
after I bought it.
