Zip ties must be considered temporary, as all things are, and therefore,
less aesthetic than the braze-ons of fully integrated bicycles, which must
be considered closer to the eternal, but on a continuum of connections, from
electrical tape (of which I once was proud, and renewed when necessary) to
the fully integrated cycle, it's ok. I have experimented with hemp twine,
and can report that it does OK, and has the potential to be shellacked.
