I've traveled 3 times with my S&S coupled bike in its soft case, never
had a problem nor an extra charge. No one's ever asked what's in the
box -- if they did, I'd say bike parts. I carry my pedals and saddle
and bike measurements in carry-on baggage so that if the bike got lost/
destroyed/whatever then I can replace it on short notice. My bike had
S&S couplers installed at the manufacturer (Gunnar). If I were
getting a retrofit, I'd go with Bilenky, but that's partly because
he's fairly near by.
