Triple has never worked well with my Rivendell. I even had a fairly lengthy thread on the topic here on this list. 44/28 Double with a 11-34 wide range in the back has worked a lot better. But I wouldn't mind having even wider. That's why the 11-40 is attractive to me, may be even able to go with a standard compact double up front if I had 40 in the back. I'll have to calculate some gear inches and see how far apart 28x34 is from 34x40.
