Here’s the pic of Bobby’s broad back with Peter White and Brian Chapman of Chapman Cycles, who built the incredible trailer was hooked up to Elton Pope-Lance’s stunning Weigle 650B. https://www.flickr.com/photos/26383479@N04/15568953907/in/photostream/

Great pics, Paul... THANKS for posting. I really enjoyed the show, especially seeing my friend Tom Allingham and spending time talking to Peter White, Peter Weigle, and Elton Pope-Lance, whose booths were clustered next to each other, and loaded with a dazzling collection of bikes, a most awesome custom BOB-like trailer and the latest in lighting technology. I got the rare opportunity to test ride the Tout Terrain Silkroad with the (way-cool) 18-speed Pinion drive (thank you, Peter) ... check it out on Peter's site... it was smooth and responsive (not at all clunky), and just had a great feel to it... a sweet ride indeed! (I realize I must have spent too much time at the Weigle/White booths, because I even appear in one of your photos, Paul (I'm the guy with the backpack with the Pumptrack sticker on it, blocking the view.. Sorry, I will leave now...) Peter Weigle's bikes (all of them) are always difficult to take your eyes off of... Elton's personal bike (a J.P. Weigle 650B creation) could be the finest-looking bike I've ever seen... The Bilenky collection (as usual) was a pleasure to behold. A Rivendell booth would have been a most welcome site (just saying).... Also had the opportunity to say hi to 'randonneurs-extraordineurs' Ed Felker and Mary Gersema, whose faces and ride photos I've seen so many times on Flickr, yet never had the pleasure of meeting in person. (Ed and I were wearing the same Bicycle Times jersey... I think there may be a selfie of us circulating out there somewhere... ) I also had the opportunity to test ride a Gazelle bakfiets cargo bike... WOW, it was so balanced and maneuverable, I was blown away. I also rode another bakfiets (which fortunately I forgot the name as it had a most awful, floppy feel to it)... but the Gazelle was pure joy to ride. At the Schwalbe tire booth I was instantly smitten by the the 700c x 50mm wide green and white Century tires... WOW... Need more 2-tone color combos... they just look boss... Funniest of all (and I think I may need to have my head examined on this one)... while what I feared most was leaving with a frame strapped to my back (I arrived on bike)...and I swore I was not there to buy... so instead, I ended up buying a Vitamix blender (at a bike show of all places!!) with an extra carafe!!! Fortunately it's being shipped to me... that would have looked funny on my rack... The show seemed very well-attended, the aisles were crowded all day, both days. The usual gang of knuckleheads and hangers-on were in attendance, there were also some new builders from far-flung places like Portland, OR and Austin, TX. Start heading for Philly... the annual Bike Expo is this weekend, and it's bigger and better this year, with an impressive lineup of exhibitors. (Wish there was actually a Riv presence, but FWIW it definitely has a strong Rivish vibe). Here is a link to the site: http://www.phillybikeexpo.com/ Tom A (aka Pudge) and I are hoping to hit the show together on Sunday, but haven't finalized plans. I'd prefer to pedal into the city, coming down the Wissahickon Creek Greenway from Chestnut Hill to the Schuylkill River Trail (from the North), a 13-mile route that I've actually never taken, but have read good things about. Anyone caring to join us at the show (or join me on the ride), please email me offline (montcla...@gmail.com<mailto:montcla...@gmail.com>).
