No I don't think it does. I am valuing their role in the process to
guide it. That doesn't mean they get to brand it. Think of your house?
If you had a house built, would you expect the architect or the
builder to be allowed to put their logo on the roof or the side of the
house forever?

I would hope not.

why is a custom built bicycle any different?

boycott makes it sound far more dogmatic than it is. I simply try to
avoid them and I remove them when I can. I like headbadges from a
'filling a space' standpoint but it's not the only thing a headbadge
can convey is the maker of the bike.

Yes -but giant gaudy logos is not the way I prefer them to do so.

If someone does a good job and I'm happy with the result I will make
sure they are spoken well of and frequently to folks around me. I do
not need this to be a requirement.

Even if I want them to design one for me - it does not necessarily
require that they are allowed to emblazon logos across it. I am not
signing up to ANY process that requires me to be a riding or walking
advertisement.

If rivendell's process requires that then, yes, you're right, I won't
be getting a rivendell custom. I suspect I can find a builder who is
capable of building a bike well and properly w/o the logos.

Or at the very least inexpensively enough that I can get the frame
made w/o painting and have it painted to my requirements w/o logos.
