Have you called someone at Riv who knows the ins and outs of these frames like Mark about this ?
You may be able to file down the hanger you have very slightly to reduce it's thickness, if this is possible . I don't know which one they use and how thick it is so take this suggestion slightly. Surly also makes a cable hanger for the rear but I can't say it's any thinner .
