+1 on this!

I would say that a slipping ANYTHING is unacceptable.  This isn't rocket 
surgery:  Huffy or whatever they are selling at Wally World these days can 
manage to get parts to fit together.  The "Taj Mahal" of seatposts 
shouldn't need to be modified to fit a brand new frame...

If Rivendell has a boilerplate workaround for this, I would say they may 
need to reconsider their QC specs and that of their suppliers.

Just sayin'...  I can't think of many other companies that would be given a 
free pass on something like this.
