about instruments than I do bikes, but they are rather complementary
in terms of study.  i'm just glad nice steel bicycles don't cost as
much as nice handmade mandolins or guitars ;-)

the assumption regarding finish is one i need to further consider.
wood/varnish or lacquer vs. raw steel/paint or powder.  very different
in terms of process and what the finish is trying to accomplish.

anyway, not trying to point fingers here - given your frame of
reference, it's completely understandable.
