Well, I too choose parts for very largely aesthetic reasons, for that matter: a (old) Dura Ace seatpost instead of a much cheaper one, Compass bar when VOs are half the price, and so forth, when practically the cheaper ones would work as well.
Funny, with my off road bike, as attentive as I am to fit and function, I am far less likely to spend for "nice" as opposed to functional. I don't mind a VO bar on the Fargo (or for that matter, any custom that may replace it).
