Aside: My intention for this hub, lash and all, is a cheap but OCD-plagued man's way of getting gears for, say, an Eroica, that is, on the cheap and without permanent or complex alterations to what was designed as a stripped down gofast. So far, I think it will do fine. Worst case, I can always use a freewheel and rig a rear brake.
