Well, for wet weather surely -- when they tested brake pads back must be 20 years ago and more now, they beat everything else hands down in the wet -- but they also were better for braking in the dry and for having less rim abrasion than everything else they tested. That's why I use them all year round... and also because the color looks so good on a black bike...
