My POC Octal AVIP MIPS helmet is the best ventilated helmet I've tried so far, that I really, really like.
Deacon is not wrong, helmets won't stop the contrecoup brain injuries. But I would rather hit my head on a car or the road or a rock, or whatever, with a helmet on my head than to hit something without one. I'm hoping the MIPS feature in my POC Octal AVIP MIPS helmet will provide some additional protection in a collision, and I hope the orange color helps make me more visible on the road. If wearing a helmet does in fact cause some riders to ride more recklessly, well then, there's no helping some people. I know I don't ride around blowing through stoplights just because I'm wearing my helmet. My wife treats people with traumatic brain injuries, and she says if you did what she does, you wouldn't ride without one. But I'm sure she herself is somewhat traumatized by seeing her patients.
