For me, the newest thing in wool is cotton. Grin. The key to warmth is moisture management. Once I got ventile as my outer layer, I now wear cotton as my inner layer (well, I still have wool for my mid-layer, but it will be replaced with cotton over time). If dealing with uber-cold (-20˚F), I'll use the fishnet long underwear from Wiggies.
