Jack, Thanks for posting this thread. I've been doing a ton of annoying trimming on my 58cm Hunq, on which I'm running a 9spd chain and an XT FD, though I'm using Silver bar-ends. Some of the comments here are making me want to switch to an 8spd fd. I've seen a hunq built up the same way by Riv with a Claris fd, which is 8spd, so I'm guessing if they've done it, it works!
