I do not use a bear bag (though I have one). As trail use climbs, that may 
well change. IF all users practiced clean camps, bears wouldn't get 
conditioned to humans = food. As it is they still stay away from humans 
where I go. Bear sightings (and a few mountain lion too) are regular 
occurrences.
