The Ibis stem is 170mm c-c. It makes up for a short top tube (57cm) and a 
slack head tube. The stem clamps onto a stud that is brazed into the fork 
steer tube. Some custom builders (Ritchey, Fisher, Potts, Ibis) did that 
back in the day. This bike is from 1987.
