I think I'd recommend the P55 fenders regardless.  Well installed P55 
fenders will not look bad at all with 42mm tires, or even 38s.  32s would 
look weird but there is no reason you would ever run 32s on an Appaloosa. 
 Then if you decide to try wider (or knobbier) for whatever reason, you 
can.  I see zero benefit in putting P50s on a frame that could easily take 
P55s.
