I was intrigued by this number, as well. I heard an interview with Grant somewhere in which he expressed reluctance to excite the hostile, loveless bike-frame geometers of the interwebs, and I don't blame him. I've owned 15 or more steel bikes in the last 20 years, and only on the Rivs have I been able, effortlessly, to ride no hands. I take that as a sign of balance and stability in the bike. I could do it briefly on various other frames, but nothing like the Rivs. Maybe it's meaningless, but I find it both useful and pleasant on long rides.
