If I were buying a bag today, it would probably be an Acorn. Assuming one of their models suits you, I don't think you can do better. But they are a small operation in California--I'm not sure if they even ship oversees.
Carradice is a European (well, British) outfit so it might be easier for you to find and buy. They're probably more waterproof than either the Acorn or Berthoud, too. And they've certainly been making bags for a lot of years so the quality and reputation is there. Berthouds are too expensive for me, at least here in the U.S.--I've not tried them.
