and I would agree that the Rivendells (I have a 97 A/R) are better bikes. 
Certainly better cosmetically. I don't think functionally my 97 Riv is 
several magnitudes better than the X0-1. The X0-1 is a fine, no frills 
bike. I'm glad I bought it and I have no intention yet of flea baying it. 
It's a fine commuter and it's fun to ride. Probably snappier than my A/R 
but I think the geometry's a little more aggressive
