Speaking of cutting/shortening handlebars, anyone know why they make MTB
bars so dang wide? I'm used to road (drop) bars that are 44cm and then
during the Winter months I get out the MTB and here's this whopping 63cm
(25") bar that feels weird to steer. Does it have something to do with
quick turning around obstacles or something? I'm thinking about chopping a
bit off both sides of that handlebar myself. BTW, you can get by with a
fine bladed hacksaw (32 TPI pitch) to do this if you have a nice cutting
guide like the one Park sells. Keeps the cut straight and even. Then you
can smooth and bevel with a fine file.
