Suppose so, probly the only proper direct comparison would be threadless to threaded rodeo frame-fork-headset-stem-bars with buyers spec stem length, bar height (don't forget any spacers) and bars. I suspect the weight savings for threadless would be closer to a third of a lb than a half. I wouldn't be surprised if it was less than a third of a lb. Furthermore, since I have an old quil bar and stem set that weighs about an oz more than a comparable set of threadless stuff you can buy new today, I think the weight savings is because of what's in production today and not the result of any inherent advantage of the threadless design.
